Nike Basketball
Team Nike NYC

Nike put together a virtual “who’s who” of New York City basketball for the summer to play as Team Nike in the infamous Dyckman Park summer basketball league.

To raise the stakes even higher, Nike offered up a bounty of $5000 for any team that could beat Team Nike. We developed the Team Nike ad campaign to tell the story of these local basketball heroes that make up Team Nike and show what they are all about centered around the mantra: WE ARE Team Nike.

Judgement Day
Logo Design, Identity and
Packaging Design

When he’s not playing in Connor Oberst’s band Bright Eyes, violinist Anton Patzner is one half of Judgement Day along with his brother Lewis on cello. The creative reflects the dark classicism of their heavy yet refined sound they call “string metal.” The monogram logo, with interlocking J D, was created for use across platforms from print and video to a variety of merchandise.

The “Collectors Edition” of Judgement Day’s second full-length record, Peacocks/Pink Monsters, was designed as a book with the CD in the back.

The idea being that the casual listener can easily get the digital version, but a true fan will appreciate this substantial book with thick pages, beautiful photographs, and text written by the band about the process of recording this album and creating the album artwork, both of which centered on coordinated improvisation.

Hasbro™ presents the pony project
Exhibition and
promotion material

Hasbro™ wanted to address the emerging trend of desinger artists toy. The idea was to have the iconic My Little Pony™ toy painted by contemporary female artists, and display the resulting work in an exhibition to bring the classic toy manufacturer into the cool urban toy scene.

The advertisement used repeating icons to reference the high end designer nature of these toys, appealing to adults, while the content of the icons ranged from childish to sophisticated, showing the timeless nature of the iconic pony.
*This project was designed while working at Thunderdog Studios.

Building The Railroad
Book Design

I designed this book to commemorate the accomplishments of my Great-Grandfather, Karl Onis Hawley, who was a surveyor for the Western Pacific Railroad in the early 1900’s. He took some amazing photos from 1907-1908 surveying the Northwestern United States while he was in his mid-twenties, the same age as me when I made this book.

Banana War
Custom Typography, Illustration,
Packaging and Poster Design

When it’s just as easy to download a bands songs, the creative is what makes the album worth buying. In addition to using a custom printed cardboard sleeve, this album comes with a limited edition foldout poster with different versions of handwritten notes from the band members on the back.

For the poster, the letters of the band’s name are spelled out using original drawings of ocean creatures. These custom, interactive, and tactile facets of the packaging are meant to reach out to an audience that often feels lost in a sea of formulaic bands and offers them a unique artifact with content depth in addition to the music.

BA: Buenos Aires
Book Design

While living in Buenoes Aires, Argentina I took photographs throughout the city and later collected them into this book. To accompany the photos, I chose simplified shapes distilled from each photo, which I cut out of construction paper and placed across from the original photos. These “icons” are meant to give tangible depth and take the images a step further than being merely snapshots. They function similar to memories, as simplified versions of the past, and serve to record the post-processing of my travels.
